FOOTBALL.

GAME AT TAIHAPE. From Our Own Correspondent. A first junior match was played on the Oval on [Saturday afternoon, the contestants being the Hibernian Juniors and Old Boys jnnior team. The teams were very evenly balanced. The first blood was drawn by the Old Boysj who crossed the line, but failed to increase the score, and before the end of the spell Sutherland, for the Old Boys again crossed the line, but did not gain the major points. Immediately after the second spell the Hibernians bad a run of luck and got over twice in tbs first ten minutes, but failed to get over the bar, making the score six all, and for a time it appeared as if no farther score would be added, bus good luck ifor the Hibernians continued, and they again crossed the line, but failed to increase, making the score—Hibernians 9, Old Boys 6, which score was not altered, and the Hibernians scored another win. The jerseys on both-sides ware such a nondescript assortment that it was useless trying to discriminate the different players. I trust that in ail club fixtures the opposing treams be compelled to wear distinctive colours, and also with their respective numbers. FEILDING MATCHES. The Feilding football club’s secocd team played against Bminythorpe at Feilding on Saturday. The Feilding team showed by far the best combination. the passing having been particularly good at times. They crossed the line fonr times with the ball and each time failed to kick a goal. The only score made by Bunnythorpe was a goal from a penalty kick, the game ending with a score 0f.13 points to three.

The Palmerston High School team played Feildiog 111. on the same ground and was beaten by 31 points to three, having been repeatedly outclassed in speed.
