WEDDINGS.
A quiet wedding was solemnised by the Rev. Evans, of Bulls, at Greenhills, Sandou, the picturesque home of Mr H. J. Eagan, on Wednesday. The principals were Arthur Frank, fifth son of the late Mr John Fagan, and Selina Emma, eldest daughter ’of Mr .Alex Ross, of Queensland, formerly at Sandon. The bride was becomingly attired in a rich cream taffeta with cord and lace trimmings, and also wore the orthodox veil and orange blossoms, and carried a handsome shower bouquet. The bouquet was a beautiful specimen of the florist’s art, and was made and presented by Mrs W. E. Pearce. The bride also wore a beautiful gold and amethyst brooch, the gift of her brother. Her only attendant was Nancy, a tiny niece of the bridegroom. She wore a white silk frock, trimmed with lace and insertion, and a gold brooch the gift of the bridgeroom, who made a similar present to thebride. The duties of best man were carried out by Mr W. Ross, brother of the bride. The Rev. Evans presented the bride with a in recognition of his first wedding- in the Sandon district. The wedding cake was an ornamental two-decker the combined work of Mesdames H. J. Fagan and A. Gray. After afternoon tea and the customary toasts, the happy couple left for Napier, where the honeymoon will be spent. The bride travelled in a green cloth costume, with white felt hat. The large number of nsefnl presents on view indicated the popularity of the recipients. Their future [home- will be in Sandon.
A very pretty and interesting wedding took place on Wednesday last, April 21st, at the residence of the bride’s parents, “Teronga,” Rata, when.Hr Albert George (Bert) Campion, of Wanganui, eldest son of Mr A. E. Campion, of Silverhope, was united in the holy bonds of matrimony to Miss Ella Ruth Green, second daughter of Mr O. Green, of Rata. The Rev. Gordon, of Marton, was the officiating minister, and owing [to the indisposition of the bride’s father, the bride was given away by Mr Mathers, of Marton. The bride, who looked exceedingly becoming in an Empire gown of glace silk, trimmed with silk lace chiffon and silk tassels, with the orthodox veil and orange blossoms, was attended by her sister, Miss Netta Green, who was dressed in embroidered muslin, and little Miss Evelyn Thompson, niece of the bride, whose dress was of white silk, trimmed with insertion and lace. Mr Charles Lawson, of Wanganui, acted as best man. The bridegroom’s present to was a handsome set of furs, and to each of the bridesmaids a gold brooch. After the ceremony about 30 guests were entertained at breakfast by the parents of the bride, when the usual toasts were honoured. The cake, which was presented by Mr James Stewart, of Christchurch, was a three-tiered one of very handsome design. Mr and Mrs Campion were the recipients of a [large number of valuable and handsome presents. The happy couple left by the 5.45 p.m. train for the South, where the honeymoon will be spent.
