BRIDE TOO LATE.
•' ; . r ; -., Through lending her carriage to guests a young woman was- too late to be married \at Darwen, and ti e great event had to be postponed to the next day. T , The bridegroom was Mr Lioynd, a well-known cycle factor, and his bride Miss Dnsbury, living in tfelgraveroad. t The wedding was timed for haltpast two., at the Duckworth Oongranational Church, and the officiating minister, the Rev. W. S. MoLamh lan, and the .bridegroom and , were then in waiting. As the minutes, passed aud no bride appeared the bridegioom and ■> the guests became very anxious, bot it was not until, two minutes past three that the brido entered, the church, and then it was too late, the wedding patty being informed by the minister that he had no-power to.conduct the wedding after three o’clock. , .. Appeals were in vain, and though tears were shed by one or two of the ladies present the majority of the wedding party took the mishap in —lt was at once arranged that the ceremony should take place next morning and the bridegroom thereupon took his bride on his arm, and. leaving the church amid a shower of confetti, they drove away to the , hall where the wedding feast and festivities were to be held. The guests afterwards assembled at the hall, and though the proceedings were jhst a little tinged by disappointment, the best was made ox a bad job, and a merry gathering was held. . , ~ , , It transpired that the bride s good nature-was the reason of the unfortunate occurrence. The carriage in which she should have ridden to the church arrived at her home time, hut she insisted that some of the guests should precede her.
