Mr E. Page lias been elected Mayor of Eketahnna unopposed.

Mr J. Vigor Brown has been reelected Mayor of Napier. Thera are thirteen nominations for the nine vacancies on the Council.

Joseph Moßeavey, aged 87, this morning at Levin. He came to the Dominion in the early days and fonght in the 65th Rigimant during the Maori War.

Mr P. L. Hollinge, present Mayor of Masterton. and Mr J. Hunter, member of the Borough ; Council, have been nominated for the Mayoralty. There are eleven candidates for nine seats on the Council.

~At Nelson Mr Jesse Piper, sitting Mayor, and Councillor W. S. Hampson will contest the Mayoral seat. At Richmond Mr Sheat has been reelected Mayor unopposed. A£ Motueka Mr F. W. Thorpe has been elected Mayor unopposed. At the inquest at Thames on the woman, Watene, killed by falling off a train, evidence was that she get oat of the carriage and her husband followed. The train started Jand he hurried her to the guard’s van and got on the footboard turned to the door to assist her better, but the woman either fell or jumped off the train.
