The resignation of the'Rav. Father. Keogh, Rector of St.' Patrick’s College, Wellington, has been accepted. He will be succeeded by Dr. Kennedy, Of Meanee, who will bo replaced by Dean Smith, of Hastings. No less than eighteen candidates have been nominated at Pahiatoafor nine seats at the forthcoming election 61-Borough Councillors. Messrs Crewe (present Mayor) and Wilson (ex-Mayor) are candidates fcr the Mayoralty.

Thirteen nominations have been reoeivedfor nine vacancies on Palmerston Borough Council. With the exception of three all the old Connoil are standing for re-election. Mr J. A. Nash has been re-elected Mayor unopposed. As the result of negotiations a team of Association footballers, representing the South African Association, will visit Australia and Nes Zealand jjnest year. The programme is to be arranged by the New Zealand Association and will embrace two or three matches weekly. The visitors will get all expenses paid and the profits, if any, go to the New Zealand Association.
