Canterbury light weights are scarce at -B)£d, heavy plentiful at North Island light-weight 2J£>l, heavy weights 2&d, The lamb market is steady and fair business doing. Stocks of lamb on hand are heavy. About 65,463'1ambs arrived during the week from the Argentine and are selling at 3%d. Canterbury lamb is at 4^d, other - than Canterbury The beef market is weak and inactive; hinds 3%d. fores 2^d. There is better demand for butter. Market is steady and holders firm, but prospects are uncertain. Choicest New Zealand 100 s, Danish 108 s, Argentine 98s, Siberian 98s, Australian 975. , , . The cheese market is steady, but without animation. White 60s 6d, coloured 635. The hemp market is very quiet and transactions moderate. Good fair grade on £23 ss, fair grade on spot £22, fair current Manila on spot £22, April-June shipments of good fair grade £23, fair grade £2llos6d, fair current Manila £2l 10s. The Manila output last week was 20,000 There is better demand for cocksfoot. There are light stocks on hand. Bright clean 17ba seed is qnoted at 82s. The wool market remains firm. Bradford tops are quoted as follows:—36’s (low crossbreds) 40’s (crossbreds) Is 44’s (medium crossbreds) Is (halfbreds) Is 5%d, 56’s (quarterbrads) la The grain market is firm, with an upward tendency. The wheat market is strong and all stocks are . advancing. The market is greatly affected by reports of American speculation and small supplies are coming forward from the Continent. New Zealand long-berried wheat on spot ex granary" per quarter of 496 lbs is 46b, New Zealand short-berried do. remains firm, and prospects are favourable.
