REVOLUTION IN TURKEY.
United Press Association.— By Kleoirio Teleßranh.-— Oopyrignt. Constantinople, April 19. The Minister of War, applying to the troops from Erzeronm and Trebizond, received a reply that the fourth army corps bad decided to march on Constantinople and restore the Constitution. The officer in command at Smyrna sent the Constitutional troops to Scutari, i;Vali and Salonika. Owing to its, raptured relations With the new Government the Ottoman Bank ordered the Salonika branch to send all its cash to Constantinople. The commandant of the third army corps thereupon placed an embargo on a sum of £6OOO deposited with the branch for administrative requirements of three vilayets (administrative districts). Upwards !of 10.000 Salonika and other troops arrived at Tohatlia;]a, and informed a deputation tnat they would entering Constantinople only if safe conduct and protection were granted to the Salonika deputes, Senabling them to resnme duties, and if the ringleaders of the uprising were punished to prevent a recurrence of such an event. The Cabinet has sent Izzn Pasha, Chief of the General Staff, to parley. Two American missionaries, named Manrer and Rogers, were killed at Adana. The Armenians made a desperate resistance, and inflicted heavy losses on their assailants before being overpowered. London, April 19. The Malta has started for Turkish waters, and the Diana has been ordered to Beirut.
SALONIKA COMMITTEES ACTION. FORCES ADVANCING. Received April 30, 8.30 a.m. i Constantinople, April 19. The Committee at Salonika is pursuing firm and moderate plans, being anxious to avoid civil war and to prevent foreign intervention. Several thousands of their forces, including the Adrianople contingent, also 24 Maxims and field batteries are at Spartaken, and a thousand at Kemikjia under Sandansky. The Committee’s advanced guard of 680 has reached Kotchukohekmedje. The Sultan and Ministry are almost panic stricken.
• RUMOURED ABDICATION. Vienna, April 19. ThaJNeue Wiener Tageblatt publishes an unconfirmed report that the Sultan is in negotiation with the Committee with regard to his abdicatiop. London, April 19. Reuter states that the Committee telegraphed to the Srfltan upbraiding him with violation of his oath to maintain the Constitution.
Enner Bey declares that the Literal Union mast he conrtmartialled.
The Times states that the upper and ednoated Maijomedau olergy joined the Liberal Union for the preservation of order and restoration of the Constantinople garrison which is repentant. The Liberal Union separated from the Reactionaries owing to the brutality of the latter in killing 16 officers. DEMANDS FROM THE ‘ PROVINCES. Received April 20, 9.30 a.m. , Constantinople, April 19. Mnstafl Effendi, the Deputy at Aleppo, has been appointed President of the Chamber. Many telegrams from the provinces, including one from Anatolia, were read in the Chamber protesting against the antiOonstitutional Cabinet. The Macedonian Army demands guarantees for the maintenance of the Constitution. The Committee explains that Kiamil’s fall was due to his subservience to his son, Said Pasha, a palace favourite under the )ld regime, and emphasises that' the outbreaks in Asia Minor are the resalt of the overthrow of the authority of the Committee of Union. The absence of the Thadembeus Artillerists, who had gone to Constantinople, enabled the Salonika battalions to slip through the fortifications and reach Spartakeui and Keutohufc which is 18 miles from Constantinople. Other reports state that the Committee’s advance guard of 800 has reached San Stefano. Ove* a thousand were killed at Adana, including TOO Armenians. File destroyed half the town. The situation is better but that at Tarsus is critical. Twenty have been killed at Harass, where there is an important American mission station. Hnsni Pasha, Commander of the Salonika troops, telegraphs to the Fireigu Embassies that the soldiers m.rohing on Constantinople desire the definite re-establishment of the Constitution, the punishment of the authrs of the sanguinary disorder, and hat the lives and property of foreigiers shall ha safeguarded. The leadersof the Committees at Kaser and OoKa, interviewed at Salonika, threaten a military dictatorship ■until, the country is tranquil, and say that Stamhonl must be swept deal of tlit fanatical element at any .'cost ,
