COMPULSORY TRAINING.

At the Chambers of Commerce Conference Mr Tolley moved; “That this Conference nrges Government to give special attention to the home defenoo of the Dominion, and considers that the institution of a svstem of-compulsory military training is the fairest, most efficient, and economical mode of defence.’’ The mover considered that the Volunteer system had broken down. The motion was passed unanimously after discussion.
