The total attendance at the Show was 246,000, and the takings £10,636, as against £8398 last year. In the sawing contest Higigns and Harrington, of Horusby, cut a 15 inch log in 20 4-5 seconds, knocking 3 1-5 seconds off the world’s record. The stock sales show consignments of Lincoln and Leicester sheep on behalf of Mr Reid of Ellerslie ranged from one to“three guineas. A Romney, ram sold at 7 guineas, Mr Dowthwaithe’s Leicesters from 2 to guineas. Mr O’Rourke’s 1 % guineas. A Hereford bullock belonging to Mr Moore, of Bashby Burk, which took the championship for the heaviest beast in the Show, brought £lB. A consignment of horses from the Hayward Company, Ohristohurch, sold at satisfactory prices.
