A stowaway’s life is not always a happy one, writes the Waitara correspondent of the Taranaki Herald. The s,B Buteshire lying off the roadstead signalled on Tuesday last that a stowaway was on the barge, and to inform the police. It appears that when the first barge went out on Monday last, the weather became rough and the steamer put to sea, leaving the barge at anchor. Before the barge was unloaded the stowaway got aboard it unobserved. The barg> remained at anchor until Thursday '“'morning, the stowaway being the only solitary man on board. When the barge was being towed in on Thursday the stowaway jumped overboard between the walls at the entrance and swam ashore. Constable Price was statibned at the wharf to arrest the man, and on being acquainted with the facts proceeded to the beach and found the man drying his clothes. Ho was arrested and brought before the Justices Cof the Peace and let off with a small fine. During the four days the stowaway was on the barge hfkwas without any water aad could not have held out modi longer. For Influenza t"ke Woods’ Great Peppermint Cure. Never fails. Is 6d and 2s 6<J-
