The weather was favourable for the concluding day of above meeting. Shooting throughout was fairly good but no possibles were made through out the meeting. , The Tansey Shield, presented by Mr M. Tansey, and open to teams of five men from any affiliated Club or corps was won • by the Opaki Rifle Club, and the team having won it three times in succession the shield becomes now the absolute property of the Club. Mr Welsh, on behalf of the Opaki Club, generously returned the shield to the Association, and in future it is to be known us “The Opaki Rifle Club Challenge Shield,” and iu event bf the Association becoming’ defunct the shield is to be returned to the Opaki Rifle Club. . , As a result of good marking the Association will benefit-to the extent of £2 l?s from challenge shots. The annual meeting of above Association was held at Mangaweka on Friday evening. Mr M. Tansey occupied the chair. About 40 members were present. The balance-sheet showed a credit balance of £Bl 8s 3d. A discussion took place re alteration of date of meeting. It was resolved that it be a recommendation to the committee that date be not altered from Easter in the meantime. Votes of thanks were passed to Messrs Donald Munro, F. F. Hockley and R. T. Batley for the donation of trophies. The election of officers for the|ensuing year resulted as follows : —President, M. Tansey, Esq.; VicePresidents, Messrs A. Dalai all, R. T. Batley, F. F. Hookly, W. A. Officer, G. F. Bonar, D. Monro, E. McGregor and R, Hammond; Committee, Captains Collins, Fergusson and Humphreys, Messrs Jaggaid, Small, Qrenaide and officers ex-offloio; Auditors, Messrs D, Munro and F. Rivers, of Hastings,* has informed the Committee that he intends to present the Association with a silver oup for the highest aggregate in the Kimbolton and Mangaweka Matches. The Lawrence Military Asylum, India, won the Prince of Wales Oup for the Sohools of the Empire Competition with a score of 516; Dover School was second with 509; Melbourne, third.; Wanganui fourth; Britain, eighteenth. There was a marked all round improvement in the shooting.
