CYCLONE IN THE ISLANDS.

The Noumea steamer Pacific has arrived. She communicated at sea on the 3rd instant with the steamer St. Louise, en route from Vila to Sydney. The latter vessel reported that on March 29th a terrific cyclone passed over the islands from the south-east, causing great destruction to shipping, plantations, and other property. A tidal wave swept over Teouma carrying dwellings and crops away. The (Government buildings were blown down at Vila. The schooner Trois Ami Galtea and the Government yaoht Onioni were cast ashore, the last named being refloated. When the St. Louise left no news had arrived from the other islands..
