SANDON OLD BOYS' ASSOCIATION.
Twenty-five members attended tb» annual general meeting of the above Association, which was head at the*. Sandoa Public Hall on ' Saturday evening. Mr W. Phillips, vicepresident, was elected to the chair. The balance-sheet showed a credit of 7a sd. The following officers were* then elected ; President, Mr Q. Williams; Vice-Presidents, Messrs W. Phillips, F. Grace, W. Croucherand R. Sanson, with a strong working committee comprising thirty-five-members. It was decided that the form of entertainment should be the same as last year to be held on the Friday of the Palmerston North. Winter Show. It was agreed that the present committee should approach the Public Hall Committee next Saturday to discuss the advisability of enlarging the supperroom, which was found too small to acoomprodate the guests of the Association. A somewhat lengthy and desultory discussion took place with regard to privileges extended to members, many apparently being not quite clear on this point. Eventually it was agreed that conditions "of membership should be as follows:. —Old Boys within a twenty-five mile radius of Sanson must he financial members. Every girl pupil of the Sanson School is an honorary member being entitled to invite one friend. Boy members may invite one lady. All parents of old pupils are honorary members. A married member may invite his or her household.
It was unanimously agreed that recognition of the valuable services, of the retiring secretary, Mr H. Bowater, be recorded in the minutesof the meeting. Unfortunately he has been compelled to leave the district to take np bis duties elsewhere*, and will be too far away to carry on the work which he has so ably performed in the past. The meeting: wished him every success and showed their appreciation of services rendered by acclamation. Mr A. Penny was elected to fill the vacancy. Mi H. Pearce to take the position of assistant secretary. As this Association had grown and its work had been so successful,‘ it was proposed by Mr Perrett that rules for the guidance of members be framed. A committee of five were elected to draw up rules as proposed to be presented at the next general meeting. A vote of thanks to the chairman closed the meeting.
