The Ootmoil of Defence members will attend various Easter Encampments of Volunteers. Colonel Robin. Canterbury and Otago; Colonel Davies, Oringi (Woodrille), Colonel Collins, Palmerston North and Wanganui, Colonel Tnson, Auckland. The return of working of the North Island Main Trunk lines and branches ofj-railways for the period ended February 27th shows that * 440,933 passengers were carried, as against 892,258 for the corresponding period last year. At the meeting of Hangitikel County Council to-day a resolution was passed recording appreciation of the Council of Sir J. The motion was proposed by Or. McGregor, who said that very few people understood the grave position the people of the Dominion were in to-day. Sir J.
