RAETIHI NOTES.
The annual meeting of Waimarino Branch of Farmers’ Union was held •in the County Council Chambers, Raetihi, on Wednesday. Mr Walter Harris, President, occupied the chair. The Chairman gave his report of the year's work. The election of officers for ensuing year resulted : —President, Mr W. Harris; VicePresident, Mr O. W. Soarrow ; . Sec- ; retary ’ and Treasurer, Mr A. J, Parkes; Executive Committee, Messrs O. O. Gibbs, H. J, Davies, J. J. Tylee, F. Ellery, T. Prattley, Paul Hausen; A. W. Volkerling and Wi Ooote ; Auditors, Messrs Scarrow \and Davis. Mr Harris was appointed delegate to District Executive' meet-ing-at Eketahuna. A resolution was passed asking County Council to ; provide poisoned wheat to keep down _ the email birds pest. A vote of ‘ thanks was passed to the'.Oonncil for the use of Chambers for meetings. Eight new members were elected. ) It was decided t.o hold a picnic on Easter Monday at Mr Fraser’s farm. A good programme of sports, games, etc., is being got up and refreshments will be provided. The Raetihi Band will also probably be in attendance. The decrease in the price of timber has evidently added a little impetus to building here. Besides Mr Wyohe’s new shops in Seddon street, a nice cottage is being erected on Mrs Gibson’s section and preparations for building are also commencing on several of the sections that have recently been sold by Government.
