A family ol ten and no settled work for over two years were striking facta brought under the notice of Wellington Benevolent Institution trustees on Tuesday. The applicant for relief was the mother of ten and her husband was at work on a cooperative pick and shovel proposition. ‘‘ We have been over two years out here from England,” said the applicant. “One of the ten is a colonial.” “I reckon that every one of the ten is worth £100,” observed Mr D. Robertson. “This country’s all right, ” he continued, “and soon you’ll feel the benefit of your ten. You are a plucky woman and your man is a good sort to tackle the first thing that offfers.” The applicant submitted a portrait group of the quivetfull which led Miss Richmond, a member of the Board, to remark that they were a fine looking family, and did their parents great credit.
