The Premiers Conference is debating the financial relations of the States with The main point is the determination either of a fixed amount or ( of a sot proportion of Ous-\ toms and excise which is to be returned to the .States in lieu of thee present three-fourths under the Braddon clause, Mr Kidston made a proposal that the amount be fixed on a per capita basis. Tasmania and South Autsralia favour this but New,Sontii Wales and Victoria are emphatically* opposed to it, while Westralia is inclined to support the large States. The Conference seems as far off as ever from arriving at a decision.
