' Pinal stage nf championship series of matches at 8 o’clock this morning at the 1000 yards range i in weather which was fine, hot a smoky haze made the light on the targets somewhat bad. There was no wind for the first two hours and then a light rear left breeze sprang n,D and occasional willy-nilly crossed the range, at the distance and under the conditions shooting was good ’ though percentage of dock’s eggs were registered. King (Linwood) at the end of his firing retained top position. Coming back with 453 to his credit, he scored 41 bat unfortunately failed to get the target in his fitfh shot. Duncan (Milton) and Patrick (Auckland) tie with 451 for second place, but Patrick's long range score of 44 puts him really into second place, Duncan having scored one point less at the 100. Shaw who held fourth {place with 406 gives place so far to Kells (Palmerston North) with a grand total of 449. In the range firing Murphy \ (Auckland) is leading for the match having added 48 at this range to his 47 at previous range, making his match total 95. . Needham (Palmerston North) is running up with a total- of 94, Several 47’s were made. TO-DAY’S RESULTS. D. MoLeay, the young Opaki shot, is tbb winner of the Service Championship. King is now absolutely leading in the aggregate for the champion aeries. ’ Since last message no high scores have been made. The final squad is now down and will finish about 8 o’clock. _ Up to last nieht. Wing (Marton) was 27th in the aggregate, and Frederick (Marton) 54tb.
