HIGH COMMISSIONER’S REPORT. 1 Per Press Association. " Wellington, March 8. Following is the report of the . High Commissioner, dated London, March 6th The mntton market is weak. Stocks on hand are heavy and widely distributed amongst agents who are poshing sales. Large shipments are ooming forward and prospects are unfavourable as buyers are not in- , olined to make forward purchases at ■ present prices. Following are current quotations; Canterbury 3%d, North Island 3d, River Plete 2%d, Australian 2}£d. The lamb marked is weak. Stocks are heavy and there is dull sale for all brands. Current quotations are : Canterbury other than Canterbury 4%d, Australian 4d. The beef market is steady with better demand: Hindquarters 2%d and forequarters at 3J£d. The batter market is quiet with steady and increasing demands for better grades but there is less demand lor second-class quality. Choicest New Zealand butter lo6d, Danish 116s,'Australian 103 s, Argentine 105 s and Siberian 102 s. The cheese market is firm with improved demand. Coloured makes, for which demand exceeds supply,' are quoted at 645. White makes at 60s. The hemp market is quiet and small business doing. Holders are more willing to* sell. Current quotations are as follows on spot: Good i fair grade £23105, fair grade £22 fair current Manila £23; April-June shipments, good ‘fair grade £23s, fair grade £2l 15s, fair current Manila £2255. The .stock held in London amounts to 204, tons. Last week’s Manila output was 25,000 bales. There has been no alteration in the cocksfoot seed market since last week. The wool market is firm with more enquiry, especially for fine quality. FEIKDING MARKET REPORT.

Messrs A. H. Atkinson and 00., Ltd., report a good yarding of pigs of fair quality, and a large entry ot poultry • fruit and general produce. Pigs sold at rates about on a par with last week’s Quotations, porkers selling well. Fruit all "round made rather better value. Poultry sold remarkably well. Large consignments of peaches and pears have again come to hand too late for Friday’s auction. This necessitates selling during the week at prices considerably below Friday’s auction value. Quotations: Pigs: Weaners 5s 6d to 7s, slips and small stores 9s 3d to IBs 6d, better sorts up to 31s 6d ; porkers 345, 355, and up to 30s. Hordes : Aged gelding £3. Poultry: Kooster chicks lOd, hens Is 6d 'to 3a Id, small roosters Is, grown birds to ' 2s Id, ducks Is 9d to 2a sd, geese 3s 9d to 3s, turkey hens poor 3s 9d, all at each. Produce: Algerian feed oats 3s Id. Fruit: Prime pears 4s 3d to 5s 6d per case, indifferent 3s 9d, damson plums. 8s 6d to 3s, tomatoes half case Is (id, full 3s 6d to 3s 9d‘, apples 3s to 3s, potatoes 4s per 901 b bag, full sacks Bs to 9s, marrows 3s 6d to 3s 9d, onions %d to Id per lb, cabbages 3s to 3s 3d ;per sack. Sundries : Gig harness £3 7s 6d, wagonette £3O, chaff sacks 3s 6d per dozen.
