In view of the reported tenonr of Servla’s'reply to Russia, Baron von Ahrenthal has intimated that when - Servia 1 assures Anstria of her intention to maintain peaceful relations, he would he prepared to negotiate for a renewal of the conmeroial treaty, expiring on March 31st. He objects to the proposed conference of Powers until matters are arranged with Servia, ~ . Q St. Petersburg, March ». Although official circles in St. Petersburg are optimistic, the Russian people are pessimistic, believing that Austria’s aim is to humiliate Servia. .
