' TRENTHAM MEETING
Per Press Association. Trenfcham, March 8. Shooting commenced with the Wellington match at 500 yards, the intention being to complete that, and the 600 yards,tc-day, and part of the Otago match at 800, The weather is fine, bat from the start a brisk left wind was blowing fitfully, and a good many marksmen failed to get upon the bull. Milroy, for instance, only secured 36, while Boys, who had already won two matches, only scored 41. On the Sommerville range there were three possibles scored, Mackay (Dunedin), Jackson (Linwood), Potter (Auckland).! Willougbly (Gladstone), and Glendinning (Napier) made “all huts.” 48's and 47’s were numerous, and on tfie whole the shooting was excellent. The*match is still ia progress. Attack match, No. 9 : Peak (Waikato), Eden (Waimea), Pankhurat (Uolac Bay), Henry (Opaki), 8 each, take £3 each; Zimmerman (Tariki), Oacueron (Opaki), Ohing (Waimea), with 7 each, and 33 others take 10s each with 5. ■ • In the cover match the following won £2 6s each : A. Wing (Marton), Nix (Apiti), Frederick (Marton). v The 800 yards Otago match, ten shots, commenced with wind slightly stronger than earlier. The shooting is .still good: Smith (Hastings), Shanks (Gore), Craw, (Charlton), Preton (Auckland) found the bull, and all huts were secured by Soper (Blenhiem), Loveday (Ohura), Franklin (Weber). There were several 4S’s, while 47’s were numerous.
