At Wanganui sittingsTof the Supreme Court yesterday before Mr Justice Chapman the Court was occupied all day hearing a case in which Charles Baker was charged, on a number of counts, that he on rho 3rd February last did instruct one William Morris Scott, by letter, in the use of an explosive for the purpose of breaking and opening the safe in the Economic premises. The evidence was a recapitulation of that given when the case was before the Police Court. A'verdict of guilty was’ returned. Notice of appeal was given and the matter will be dealt with this morning. Per Press Association. Gisborne, March 5. Louisa Margaret Price was admitted to probation for 12 months on a charge of making a false declaration to the Registrar of Births. Invercargill, March 4. At the Supreme Court to-day, David Buchanan was charged with assaulting Mary Ann Jones with intent to commit rape, and also with subsequent indecent assanlt on the same person. The evidence indicated that there had been a drunken row in Mrs Jones’ house, aud the jury found the accused guilty of common assanlt. The accused, who gave his age as 20, has been in gaol since December 29th, and the Judge ordered a further three months. Samuel Francis Irving Crofts sued for a divorce from Mary Alison Crofts on the ground of adultery with a man named Jack. A decree was granted on the usual terms.
