WIRTH BROTHERS CIRCUS.
The visit to Marfcon of Wirth Bros. '" huge combination of seven shows has been locked forward to with more than ordinary interest. The opening night has been fixed for Monday, March ?sth, near Railway station. New features have been secured from abroad by Mr Philip Wirth, who has just returned from, a tour around the world. Among the new artistes specially engaged are the Sydney Brothers, and the originators of bnmpty bumps, throwing somersaults on motor cycles and bicycles. Another great feat is that of extinguishing two lighted candies while leaping with a bicycle. Another expensive engagement is that of Les Orottona, hand balancers and comedians, in marvellous feats of ’. strength. In addition there are the three Gamon Brothers, Spanish performers, highly-trained and clever arcrobats who perform a sensational act, assisted by an exceptionally smart dog who performs almost human tricks. One of the many star attractions of entertainment is the. great animal act. This act is the acme of wild animal training, for the animals perform together feats that that would he marvellous for dogs or oats to perform. From England come two clown comedians of note, . who have- appeared before royalty. Pastor and Bebe ; and from Germany two eccentric comedians, Otto and Emil. Ilket and Jenny are equilibrists who achieve sansa- i tional one-hand balancing on high ladders—in fact, quite people of eminence. After six year’s absence there will be the reappearance of John Welby Ogok, champion jockey act rider; the whole of the late Fitzgerald Brothers menagerie, recently purchased by Wirth Brothers in Sydney, now combined with Bostock and 'WombeH’s menagerie ; Maori, champion jumping pony of New Zealand; Lady Morton, champion high-jamping horse of the world, record 7ft o%in ; the great polar bear from the Arctic regions, the only one in th.a world living in captivity without a tank of water. In the matter of circus speculation one of the purchases quoted is that of £IOOO for a new giraffe from the Paris Jardins dea Plants.- This is a “tall figure’’ in animals and will be on view at the circus. The large zoo, including the giraffe, will be open in the afternoon from 4 till 5.
