A FEMALE FIEND.
A remarkable specimen of the female Apache, the untamed hooligan of Paris, was recently sentenced by the Seine Assize Court to two years’ imprisonment for stabbing her ■ rival to death. Her name, or, at luest, the name she is known by, is Ohiffonette. Her age is only 24, but according to the correspondent of the Telegraph she has crammed more excitement into her short life than most women would experience if they lived to be centenarians. The correspondent states that this is the second. killing of which Ohiffonette, who, besides an eye gouged out, has the marks of 26 stabs on her body, has been accused. The charges read against her were almost incredible, when one thinks of the strenuous struggles which she has survived.. The presiding judge read out the following list of her exploits;— ' “ Yon are a female Apache. You received as many stabs of the knife as you gave, and as many revolver shots as yon fired. Two years ago a dagger was plunged in yon by your lover, and the wonder is that you survived. Last year another lover blew out your eye with a revolver. How you survived this is also a mystery You paid this savage lover back by stabbing him during sleep. He was sent to hospital, and almost miraculously recovered.” ‘‘Ohiffonette actually stabbed this lover to death in a duel, in’JJJthe course of which he _ handled a revolver and she a knife. ■ ‘‘With a rival who accused her of stealing her ‘man’ Ohiffonette had a terrible encounter of daggers and vitriol, in which she finally killed her antagonist. Ohiffonette stood up in court, with all her soars, which gave her a fearful appearance. She listened quietly, and accepted the sentence of two years without a murmur. Her story throws a lurid light over the terriole scenes of low life which are enacted on the exterior boulevards of Paris.”
