A Bill for the suppression of stagedoor callers has been introduced into the New York State Legislature, says the New York correspondent of the Daily Mail. 'Whether it is a joke or not is not stated. The measure provides for the registration of all male patrons of a theatre who desire to send notes to any actress appearing in the play. Under its provisions all theatrical managers must keep registration lists of visitors and all persons sending nok«s to actresses must sign their names and state whether they are married or single If it is fonnd that the sender is married the note will be preserved and sent to his wife. If a false name or address is given the signer will be punishable by imprisonment or fine. The enormous steppes of Russia, on which range, groat herds of cattle, are covered with snow for at least six months out of every year. The cattle live upon the tall bunches of grass which project above the snow. The long-oontinned glare from these saowfields, it has been found, makes the animals blind, in which condition they are with difficulty able to find the necessary amount of food. A large Russian cattle breeder, with an eye at once to profit and pilanthropy, has invented snow glasses for the protection of the cattle’s eyes. The glasses are made of smoked glass, and are fastened about the animals’ beads by straps. In a single herd, it is reported, there are 40,000 cattle which wear tbesa queer spectacles. OBTAIN A PATENT. New ideas, or improvements on existing arrangements should be patented, provisionally at any rate. Fullest details as to procedure, etc., are contained in our pamphlet “Advice to Inventors” which will be posted free of cost on application to HENRY HUGHES, Patent Agent, Queen’s Chambers, Wellington.
