Belated reports have been received of an earthquake in ;Luristan, a province of Persia, !;on January 23rd, which destroyed 60 villages, killing 6000.

[lt was reported by cablegram dated January 24th that a severe earthquake bad been recorded on seismographs in Europe. At it was supposed to be of submarine origin but later it was decided that Central Asia was the probable locality. ]
