CURIOUS STABBING CASE.

Per Press Association Hamilton, February 16. A serious stabbing affray occurred here yesterday. It appears that last night the police called in a house and found a married woman, named Look, .lying seriously injured, with a wound in the abdomen. A doctor was called in and ordered her removal to the hospital. Her husband was in the house when the police arrived and on being questioned completely denied having committed the deed, saying that about ten o’clock his wife was lying on the conch and complained of being ill. She showed her husband the wound and he immediately went for a doctor. Look was immediately arrested on suspicion, but maintains his denial of the affair. The wound, which it is thought was caused by a knife, pierced the intestines and the woman’s condition is serious. A curious circumstances has occurred in connection with the Lock stabbing case. Mrs Look waited upon by a Justice of the Peace at the hospital this morning, refused to make any depositions regarding the stabbing, replying, in answer to a question, that she had nothing to say. She was pressed to say how the incident happened, but she steadfastly refused to do so. Lock is a painter by trade, about 33 years old. Mrs Look is aged about the same. Neighbours, who were interviewed, alleged that the couple lived very unhappily, having frequent quarrels. Lock is said to be quite a sober man though subject to fits of frenzy. They have been married seven years and have six children. Although the affair took place between 3 and 4 o’clock, the doctor was not called in till 7.30 .when the victim’s condition became serious. Look has been remanded till tomorrow.
