HEALING BY PRAYER.

PARENTS OP A DEAD CHILD ARRESTED. A Peculiar People case was before ■ the Canning Tower coroner recently, and at the conclusion of an inquest; on Phyllis Bernice Horsnell (says the London Daily Mail) the parents of the child were arrested on a charge of manslaughter.. The mother of-the child, giving evidence, said that it contracted measles on November 2yth, and thewitness sent for Mr Southgate, an elder of the Peculiar People sect. In three days the rash left, but on December 6th bronchitis set in and the witness for Mr Worm,, a minister of the sect. He prayed over the child and anointed her with oil, and after he had gone she seemed better. The following day the child was worse and the witness sent for Mr Moore, another minister. He anointed and prayed over the child, who apparently got. better. There was relaspe. Prayers for her life were offered up in church, but she died. The Coroner: You did not call in a doctor?—No.

Why not? —We believe in God. We are told in the Scriptures to pray over the sick and anoint them with oil.

George Horsnell (the. father) said that he the child was ill, hut he did not call in a doctor because he believed in trusting in God, body and soul. The Coroner: Your faith has not been shaken by the death of your child?—No.

The jury returned a verdict of manslaughter against the parents, who were arrested and committed for trial on the Coroner’s warrant.
