THE ANDERSON DRAMATIC COMPANY.
“THE "SQUATTER’S DAUGHTER.” Australian plays in a typically Australian setting are rare on the stage. As a rule one act alone is set in Australia?; and Jthe balance gravitates aronnd London and Paris. But Mr William "Anderson has recognised that the time “is ripe when Australia can have its own drama, and ‘‘The Squatter’s Daughter,” which is to appear in Marton on Thursday next, for one night only, is just one of such. And there is certainly no land new or old on the face of the earth that lends so picturesque and romantic a setting to a play as does the land of the wattle and the waratah. ‘‘The Squatter’s Daughter” is set in a frame of Australian scenery of most romantic nature. The glorious country of the Blue Mountains in New South Wales is the locale of a dozen most sensational scenes. The audience can stand at the mouth of the magnificent Jenolan Oaves, and gaze across miles of hills covered with the eucalypti and tree ferns. They will see the great Eucalypti Gorge, the romantic Waterfall Gully; they will hob-nob with the shearer in the sheds, and see the sheep shorn on the stage; they will gy right to the inside of station life in the Waratah country, and through it all they will trace one of the prettiest love stories yet written for the stage. “The Squatter’s Daughter” has the charm of naturalness, and it is Australian from start to finsh. The Company will appear in Marton for positively one night only, Thursday next. The prices are 3s, t2s and Is, and seats may he booked at Mogridge’s without extra charge.
