<3»' - WOOL SALES. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report having received the following cable message from their London house, under date February 6th ‘Wool sales closed firm. As compared with the closing rates of last series scoured merino wools of good quality and condition are par to 5 |per cent, lower, and faulty wools of the same class are unchanged. Greasy merino wools are also unchanged. Fine quality crossbreds are 5 per cent higher, bright medium crossbreds being 5 per cent to *l%, per cent, higher* > Coarse crossbred wools are par to I pW cent higher, and lambs’ wool sfoer/cent higher. The total net (jjaamity available for sale amounted to 20,000 bales, of which quantity 13,000 bales were sold for America, 93,000 for Home consumption, and 88,000 for the Continent, leaving 9000 to be carried forward to the nest series.” Messrs Murray, Roberts & Co. iiave received the following wool market cablegram from their London agents, Messrs Sanderson, Murray & Co., dated 6th February, 1908:—The sales have closed firm, with 9000 bales held over. Comthe opening rates the market shows no material change except for inferior descriptions of coarse to medium crossbreds, and best merino which have declined 5 per cent. Invercargill, February 9. The last wool sale of the present series was held to-day, when 4004 bales were offered, and practically all were sold. It was generally anticipated, in view of the recent northern sales, that the prices would be lower, but considering that there was less than half the quantity offered, and that most of the best clips have been sold, the prices were fully equal to those of the January sale. Lower grade wools were fully better. Tbe best price was obtained for a three-bale lot of super crossbred hogget, which sold for lid. The best prices for other sorts were Halfbred 10%d, strong crossbred The prices were fully up to last sale’s quotations.
