THE CHERNIAVSKI CONCERTS.
In connection with the approaching visit of Leo, Jan and Mischel Oherniavski who, to quote the words of a well known London musical critic, “have figuratively speaking really and truly ‘set the Thames on fire,’” the publication of a letter from Ysaye, who is acknowledged to be the foxemost and most brilliant 1 violinist of the day, will. prove specially interesting. When so great an authority speaks, and with such v conviction the chorus of praise which has been sung by the Loudon and Continental presS/canuot in any sense be deemed extravagant. This is what he says Having had the pleasure to hear the .trio Oherniavski as virtuosi and in mnsique de ohambre, I am happy to affirm that never in my life have I heard any children so completely gifted in every artistic respect. lam convinced they will go very far, and will be artists of the first rank in the near future.” The letter is a complete endorsement of all the flattering criticisms which their wonderful playing has provoked , and justifies the public acclamation which in the case of youngsters is often influenced by sentiment rather than by .a recognition of actual merit. The *Oherniavskis are musicians, and this tact coupled with their youth cannot fail to add extraordinary interest to their performances. These wonderful boys will appear in Marton Opera House for one recital only on Friday, February 5 th. The plan of reserved seats is now open at J. Mogridge & Son’s.
