At the Magistrate’s Court this morning before Mr Hutchison, S.M., John Curran and Lewis Grant were charged with breaches of the Licensing - Act in connection with the seizure by the police of 53 bottles of liquor on the South bound express on December 30. The Magistrate dismissed the information on the ground that though there was stronjg suspicion against accused there was not sufißoient evidence to connect them with the liquor. Dunedin, January 21.

Alexander Stewat McKenzie, aged 24, was charged at the Police Court with sending a forged telegram (four offences), and sentenced to six months imprisonment. The prisoner pleaded his inability to get work, saying that he was practically destitute when the crimes were committed.
