The adjourned 'enquiry by the Wellington R.O. stewards into the running of Penates in the Telegraph Handicap yesterday was concluded to-day. The stewards accepted as (Juito satisfactory the explanation Jof Mr A. Barclay, the owner, and O. ■< Pritchard, the trainer of the horse. Penates showed in his preliminary that be was palpably too sore to gallop in his usual free manner, and his jockey, A. Oliver, wisely refrained from punishing his horse for no purpose.

Theodore led all the way, winning easily by two lengths. Time, Imin. 3 l-sth secs.
