BULLS TOWN BOARD.

The monthly meeting was heirl cn Monday evening'. Present: Messrs J. E. Walker (chairman), J. Fletcher, U. Flower, W. Homes, T. King, F. J. Mansell, and J, Stevenson.

$ Correspondence was read ” From Few Zealand Accident In,snrance Company, intimating that owing to increased liability under recent legislation an increased amount would be charged in future by way of premium. gFrom Inspector of Nuisances,, with monthly report, which not being deemed sufficiently explicit, he attended personally, giving explanations which were considered satisfactory. From Treasury, requesting further particulars Inspecting 10 per cent, increase on loan applied for. —lnformation supplied. A ([petition was received from a number of business people of the town requesting that the honrs of .closing continue as at present. A counter petition was also received requesting that the present regulations with regard to hours of closing be rescinded.

A lengthy and somewhat heated discussion ensued, it being finally decided that the matter be deferred in order to give those interested an opportunity of deciding on hours that would be mutually acceptable. Accounts amounting to £54 8s 4d were passed for pavment. It was resolved (Mansell —Fletcher) That a drain be constructed to convey storm water from the channel. in front of Clifton Hotel to foot of Daniell Street and over the cliff.

Tenders were received for cartage of tar from Marton Gasworks, that of the Marton Carrying Company being accepted at 7s 6d per ton.

The Clerk was instructed to order necessary pipes tor drain, and 10 casks tar to commence asphalting. Messrs Homes and Flower were appointed Works Committee for ensuing mouth. The meeting then adjourned. BULLS DOMAIN BOARD. The annual meeting was held at the close of the Town Board meeting, the same members sitting. The annual report and balancesheet was read and approved. Accounts amounting to £9 12s 7d were passed for payment. Mr Homes stated that as arranged with the Managing Committee he had cleared the grass from the Recreation Ground for the privilege of removing same, but the crop proved so satisfactory that be had the pleasure of donating £5 towards providing appliances for supplying afternoon tea to frequenters of the tennis court.

A hearty vote of thanks was accorded :to Mr Homes; for his generosity, and he was requested to supervise the expenditure of the amount donated.

The Managing Committee reported that the construction of the asphalt tennis court was now completed, and should be ready for playing on in course of a few days. A vote of thanks to Messrs Perbam, Larsen & Co. for supplying sawdust gratis was carried unanimously, after which the meeting adjourned.
