BRITISH TRADE.
MR CHURCHILL HOPEFUL. United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. London, January 15. Mr Winston Churchill, addressing the Leicester Chamber of’Commerce, said, that there was a general consensus of opinion that the bottom of the trade depression had been reached. No unfavourable conditions were apparent which were likely to retard recovery. Although next session Parliament would deal with important questions, he knew of nothing which would justify the trading and manufacturing classes apprehending any financial injury to the smooth and active flow of business enterprise. Therefore] he predicted that 1909 would be a year of commercial and industrial recovery.
