, At the meeting of above on Tuesday evening there were present: Commissioners Athy (chairman), Loane and'Wilkie, Ors. Wilkie and Loane apologised for the absence of Or. Butler. A letter was received from the Lands Department detailing steps to he taken to acquire the recreation reserve. . , The Railway Department advised forwarding to General Manager the Board’s letter re lamps at station. The following resolutions were passedWilkie, Loane—That the clerk write to Mr Jennings, M.P., thanking him for sending various matters and requirements on to the Premier. . , TT ■ Wilkie, Loane—That the Undersecretary for Lauds be written to thanking him for his advice re recreation ground, and that the Chief Surveyor be written to for a plan of ground, the survey having been taken. , , Wilkie, Loane—That the clerk write Mr Copeland asking him to desist from lighting fires in the Main Street. , . _ Or Wilkie reported that Crs. Butler, Loane, Quinn and himself met on Thursday night and unaoixaoxisly apoointed Mr J. McGnrk the Board’s surfaceman at 9s per day oat of four applications. Their action was ratified, the chairman voting against it. Wilkie, Loane.—That the surfaceman’s working hours be daily from 7.80 a.m. to 5 p.m., excepting on Saturday’s, when the hours be 7. £>o a.m. to 13.30 p.m. Or. Loane reported having seen a letter from a Wellington financier stating he was willing to lend the Board from £SOOO to £IO,OOO. provided the security was all right. Or. Loane gave notice of motion that he will at next meeting bring up for discussion the setting up of a committee to frame by-laws with respect to buildings, eto. Wilkie, Loane.—That a tool box be constructed for the workmen’s tools and that a Vote of thanks be passed to the Public Works Department for their kind loan of tools. Wilke, Loane.—That Clerk get legal advice re securing land from Government as an endowment and take all necessary steps to secure the land , Wilkie, Loane.—That the Clerk write to the Minister for Roads and Bridges re Mangawhero bridge. £ Wilkie, ‘ Loane.—That the Clerk write to the Minister for Lands re opening np of the road right to the station, past the freehold sections and make it the fall width. Wilke, Loane.—That the Public Works Department be asked to widen the Broad from the Mangawhero River to Station, at present it being in a dangerous state. Orr Wilkie reported that the hank manager was waiting for the necessary forms re overdraft. Loane, Wilkie. —That the Clerk purchase a safe and letter press.
