The outstanding feature of the morning’s play was the defeat of Carlton and Wanganui. Both had previously been unbeaten, but the former went down rather easily to Thorndon, Whilst Manaia lowered Wanganui’s colours. In the seventh round. Section B Thorndon 27 beat Carlton 17. Hastings 20 beat Newtown 18. Palmerston 28 beat Upper Plains 23. Havelock 81 beat Hawera 18. Napier 28 beat Patea 14. St. Johns had a bye. Section O.— Feilding 18 beat Kelbume 15. Parndon 31 beat Wellington 9. Gisborne 26 beat Grey town 11. ' Manaia 20 beat Wanganui 16 Dannevirke 19 beat Gceenmeadows 11 At Greenmeadows green Bluff Hill suffered a first defeat, succumbing to Bemuera. In Section A— Stratford 31 beat Waverley 17. Bemuera 27 beat Bluff Hill 19. Pihama 32 beat Pabiatua 19. Victoria 26 beat Mtham 21. Waipawa 27 beat Tnranganui 12. Petane had a bye.
