United Press Association—By Elec trio Telegraph—Copyright. Brisbane, January 11. The Australasian Association for the Advancement of Science commenced its annual congress here today, Professor Bragge presiding. Mr G. M. Thompson resigned the position of local secretary in New Zealand. Dr. Colridge was appointed as his successor. Professor Orme Mason was elected president for the next meeting which is to be held at Sydney. A resolution that subjects for discussion should he selected two years in advance was adopted. The Meuller medal was awarded to Professor David in recognition of his work in connection with Australasian geology. The President delivered an address on radio-activity. Brisbane, January 12. Mr Bragga, in the Presidential address, remarked that a considerable share in the development of new science had been taken by men born in Australasia. Easily first among these stood Ernest Rutherford, of New Zealand, to whom the world owed many fundamental conceptions of the subject.
