The Turkish Grand Vizier is impressed by Austria's offer to pay 2 % million pouads compensation for the old State domains in Bosnia and Herzegovina, besides consenting to the Turkish Customs increase to 15 • per cent. . The domains consist chiefly of 5 million acres of forest land, also of mines for salt, brown coal, copper, •tin, quicksilver and sulphur. THE CRETAN DIFFICULTY. Received January 12, 8.5 a.m. London, January 11. Austria’s offer of compensation depends on Turkey’s agreeing to arbitration whether the domains be wasted in the Ottoman State or in the two occupied provinces. As an outcome of "the movement recently started in Constantinople to boycott Greek goods if the Greek ♦ Government re-opened the Cretan question, a great meeting held at Constantinople emphatically protested against Greece raising the question. Subsequently a deputation ascertained that the Greek Government was willing to leave the [solution of the question in the hands of ■the four Powers interested in the of Crete.
