BUCKJUMPING TRAGEDY.

A MAN KILLED. Press Assoc iar.tou. Whangarei, January 11. There was a tragic occurrence o» Saturday night during the performance of O’Neill’s Bnokjumping Circus. Whilst Te Kooti, one of the wild horses, was being saddled in the ring, the animal lashed out with, his hind legs and kicked Richard Treieaven, aged 23 years, on the tody. The young fellow, who - was playing the part of clown, was hurled several yards, and fell to the. ground. He rose again in mortal agony, and then dropped. Finally* he was carried from the ring and expired in a few minutes. The inquest on Treieaven revealed the fact that death was not due to a kick, but to the diseased state of the body, and a verdict was given accordingly the jury adding that death was accelerated by excitement and drinking. ■
