The schooner Eugenie from the Solomon Islands reached Cape Hawke with Captain Gordon dead of malarial fever. The mate Anderson, the only other white man aboard, succumbed to fever and the effects of a very rough passage after getting in. The crew of Islanders were untouched by fever.
