WELLINGTON LAND BOARD.
The Wellington District Land Board met for its adjoarned monthly meeting on Thursday. The Grown Lands Commissioner,’ Mr’ Jamea Mackenzie.'presided, and Messrs A. Reese, J. Dawson, and J. M.. A’Court were also present Approval of title was granted on the customary conditions:— Section 8, block «16, OJiine wairua, 640 acres, to G. Dnrrant. U Transfers of, 1 the undermentioned sections were granted to the personsnamed:—Section 1, block 10, Tanakira, 1800 acres, W. D. Kibblewhite to G. H, Monk; section 60, Manunui Village Settlement, 1 acre, J, Healey to J. Hayes (provided residential conditions have been com' plied with to date). The Board' also approved of the subdivision of 28, block 16 r Taihape Village Settlement, and its transfer from W. F. Stephens to O, Dunbar, S. Trask and H. M. Hollow. Mrs R. E. Port applied lor permission to sublet part 1 of section 4, blocks 78, etc., Pohaugina, 622 acres 1 rood 35 perches, to Mr H. Fraser at an annual rental of £B2l 16s. The Board resolved to grant approval subject to the papers being found in order. Mr R. A. H. Port applied to sublet part 2 of section 47, blocks' 8, etc., Fobangina, 640 acres, to Mr J. A. Fraser, the annual rental being £BBI. Approval was granted on tho same conditions. as in the lastmentioned case. With reference, to the resolution of the Board to offer the small lots in the Pobinui Village Settlement by public auction for cash, it was resolved that section 41 be weighted with the late Captain Tegner’s improvements, which the ranger reported to be £73 10s. It was also further resolved to reserve each alternate quarter-acre section for leasing after providing for all necessary reserves. The sections over one acre are to be offered on leasehold conditions, and in the case of section 41 without competition if practicable. The prices are to be subject to the ranger’s valuations. It was resolved to approve of Mr R. A. Wilson, on behalf of the Valley Road Timber Company, being granted a license to lay the tramway through .certain Grown lands near Horopito and along the route recommended by Mr Banger Arnmuuson; the license to be subject to tbe usnal conditions and to a payment of £8 per annum; royalty at current rates to be paid for all milling trees that might be felled along tbe route. A report was received from the Crown Lands Banger on the application by the Messrs Vile ’Bros, to be allowed to occupy the balance o£ reserves sections 282 and 283, Obakea Settlement, which had not yet been waabed*away by the river, free of rent, as some compensation for tbe loss of land from tbeir land for settlement lease, section 80 in the same settlement. It was decided, in consideration of all the circumstances, to approve of tbeir doing so at an annual rent of 10s, provided they planted willows on tbe remaining portion of section 282, as-: suggested by Mr Lundiua. Transfers approved, the principal being :—Section 12, Hautapu, 722 acres, G. Drew to T. A. Hyde; Section 23, Hautapu, 200 acres, E. Houghton to E. F. Shaw. It was resolved to recommend the Minister of Lands to approve of Section 6, Obakuue V.S. (8a lr 35p) being allotted to the Roman Catholic Ohurch, without competition, as a church site, lat the price of £36, in terms of Section 140 of the Land Act, 1908. It was also resolved to recommend the Minister to approve of the freehold of Section 12, Block V, Owhango Township, being granted to tbe Presbyterian Church) as a church site, without competition, at the price of £27. Mr E. Stares was granted thirty days in which to complete his application for section 8, block 1, Owbanga. The Board did not approve the application of "Mr Q. M. x Sykes for section 11, Ohaknne Village Settlement, and the section was allotted to Clara Ann Thompson, tbe only applicant whose application was complete. Mrs M. J, Ammnnsen’s application for sections 8 and 4, block 19,' Ohabune, haring been amended, it was resolved to ballot between Messrs R. Lyall and T, J. Patterson for section 3, which thereby became available. Mr Patterson was successful on the ballot. «
Mr P. J. Murphy wrote stating that his wife did not desire to have the whole of section 1, block 3, Manngakaretn (Bakelapanua 1.P.) transferred to her, but wished to have the half interest of it only. Mr Murphy attended in person and urged the Board to reconsider the decision arrived at upon the matter at, the Novemberr meeting. The Board resolved to adhere to its previous resolution, but to approve of the milling timber agreement being consented to by the Commissioner on behalf of the Board as soon as the ranger certified that the house erected on the section was a suitable and habitable one. Mr J. Devlin wrote with reference to his non-residence on section 92a, block 13, Apiti, 26a 2r Bp, and stated that he would build and reside within the next six months.—The Board resolved to grant him until Jane 80th next to do so, and to intimate that this was 'to he considered the final concession.
