GERMAN SOUTH AFRICA.
United Press Association— By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. Berlin, January 8. The German press in recording the Gape Government’s surrendering or disarming of Hottentot marauders, and the fact that the Gape Police shot two chiefs who were , attempting to escape, remarks that arrangements between the British authorities and Herr Dernburg for mutual support in the repression of turbulent border elements are bearing fruit. The significance is that whereas the frontier population believed raids on the Germans in South-west Africa met with approval in the neighbouring territory, this idea is being thoroughly dissipated, which will have a .lasting effect on the tribes.
