ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.

Per Press Association. Auckland, January 2. Dr. Orford Jones died last night, apparently as tha result of an overdose of morphia. An inquest was opened this morning, and after evidence of identification was adjourned till January 13th. Napier, January 3. Joseph Wooster, aged about 30, employed as night porter atthe'Oaledonian Hotel, Napier, committed suicide early this morning. He was found at about 6.30 a.m. in one of the armchairs in the sitting room, quite dead, with a bullet wound in his forehead, holding a revolver in his right hand and a cigarette in the other. He was a sober, steady, reliable man. His wife lives at Blenheim. There is no family. Dunedin, January 3.

A man named John Smith, a widower 70years of age, a flaxmiller at Waihola, died on Satuday at Romahapa. He went to Romahapa on the Ist insc. to stay with a friend and on Saturday went out for a walk by himself. In the evening he was found in an unconscious and dying condition in the bash and expired about ten minutes later. The deceased had a daughter and two sons at Invercargill. Death is supposed to be due to apoplexy.
