TROUBLE IN THE SOLOMONS.
RETURNED KANAKAS BLAMED United Press Association. —By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. Received Juno 23, 10.5 a.m. Sydney, June 23. ' A prominent resident in the Solomon Islands, whd is visiting Sydney, attributes the recent unrest and outrages to lack of "proper administration. No attempt is made by officials to check the preparations the natives are evidently making to harass whites. A war canoe is building which was abandoned some years ago, but the work has been resumed with great activity. The Islanders are well supplied with arms and ammunition. A punitive expedition lauded from a warship was practically useless. He attributes much of the trouble to returned Kanakas who contracted any white man’s worst habits and few of his virtues.
