At the Addington live stock market to-day the entries, :except of , fat > cattle, were smaller than of late/ and there was a more limited atten.dance in consequence/of • thd inclement weather. The. yarding of store sheep l was 'fa. smnUv one, and consisted principally,- of,, lambs and wethers. Included itsthe entry were/ a few lots ■ of -Nelson sheep, the balance of a large number that were brought into Canterbury; some weeks ago. . For forward lambs and wethers late rates were maintained, though the demand was hot active. A line of wethers (well for - ward) made 16s 4d. others 14s 6d to 15s, and backward softs 10s to 11s 6d, forward lambs 9s 6d to 10s fid, and lighter 7s 6d to 9s. A line of small 3-tooth half-bred ewes made 11s fid. There was a smaller yarding of fat lambs than for several weeks past, and the qualitv was very mixed, only a small proportion being wellgrown and prime. Bidding was fairly brisk and prices were rather firmer, nearly all the lots going- for export. Tegs made 6d to ( 18s';10d, ordinary weights 13s to 11'., andlight and inferior stud lots. Ss to 13s 6d. •• • ' The entry of fat sheep was not syr large as of late, and there was better proportion .of wethers:/The bulk of the yarding was aged’" ewes and light wethers. Competition was fairly keen, the export buyers both wethers and 'ewes, hut were generally • outbid by the butchers, with the result that prices firmed about 10s a head. The range of prices was: Prime wethers 18s 6d to 22s 3d, a few extra to 245, lighter 14s 8d to 18s, prime ewes 15a fid • to 18s 6d, medium 13s to 15s, light and aged 9s to 12s 6d, prime merino wethers 13s to 15s. The yarding of fat cattle totalled 356 head, a fair proportion being of. prime handy weights. There was a fair demand after prices had been established, and passed-in lots at tb'e opening of the sale were afterwards sold. Prime beef made 22s fid, to 35? f medium 20s to 22s 6d, and-’.cow ana inferior 17s to 19s fid per 1001b'. The general range oforices was Steers £6 to £ll os, £33, heifers £4. 17s fid to £8 17s |||Cextra to £lO ss. and cowst £4 10/ ‘to £7 Jlos. Veal calves 4s 6s 6d, according to size and quality.' - ” The‘yarding of T pigs was increased ' A by a line of 95 from the Ohathams, . of.* which about 30 were fat, the r/local supplies being small. There was a good demand for all classes. * * and prices were very firm. Chatham - Mand fats made 50s to 60s, and the stofes 36s to 40s. Choppers made £S 10s to £5, heavy baconers 60s to 70s, and lighter 48s to 58s, equal to 5%d per lb. Heavy powers made 38s "to 465, aud lighter 32s t& 365, equal to fid per lb.
