It is stated that the milk received at the various Taranaki factories during the past year has given more trouble than in any previous year! This is accounted for, says a contemporary, by the rain following the drought bringing on a rush of rank grass and having all the effects of a second spring when the milk is always of a low test. It is stated that practically nothing second grade cheese has been manufactured this year, and thac one factory which persistently produced first grade has this year been unable to get beyond second gr ade. In a few weeks the German law courts will be called upon to annul a noble marriage solemnised in London, last year, when Count Wolf Eckbrecht von Duerckheim-Mont-Cuirassier Guards, married Viscountess de Oivry, niece of the late Duke Paul’of Brunswick. The count met the viscountess in Berlin, and, despite the fact that she was nearly 25 year.*? his senior, , wooed and won her. Subsequently a lawsuit concerning the estate of Duke Paul was adjudged against the countess. One day the count asked for indefinite leave. Very . soon after bis wife appeared at the garrison and inquired of the . commander as.to her husband’s whereabouts.
