The monthly meeting was held ou Saturday. Present: Crs. 14. V\. . Brown (chairman). H. burne, F. Smith. K. \V. Oliver, G. 11. Handley, and. D. Howie. Or. Juckson wrote to say he was not well and was granted leave of absence. Hart, for permission to erect fence on edge of road near Horopito creek. —Granted. Brown—Oliver — That as the Maugaone and Pohangina Ridings are not included in the Pohangina bridge special rating district, the amounts of £7 10s and £5. being the Mangaone and Pohangiua Riding contributions towards the payment of interest on the bridge loan, be paid annually for the the bridge. Crs. Howie—Oliver— That the Engineer be directed _ to purchase a road grader; to interview the Palmerston North Sash & Door Company with regard to the metalling of the roads in the Awahou and Tamaki Ridings; to invite tenders for supply of 5 tons of chaff - and 3 tons oats for use of County horses. . Tlig Treasurer submitted estimates for the ensuiug~year which provided for a reduction ’of tlie debts of the Ridings from £llßl 7s 6d to £940 2s Bd, on a differential rate, the rate in the Awahou to he reduced from l%d in the £ to Id, and the Maugaone reduced from Id to %d, the rates in other Ridings to remain the same. The estimates were adopted.
