BOY SHOT AT WANGANUI.

Arthur John Ballance Jones, aged 13 years, the only son of Mr P. Webb Jones, editor of the Wanganui Herald, was accidentally shot yester, day. Mrs Jones and her son were spending yesterday at the residence of Mr Wm. Hughes, at Maxwelltown, and it appears that during the afternoon, at about 4 o’clock, the deceased and a son of Mr Hughes were handling a gun. They were unaware that weapon was loaded, but while they were playing with it it sud- 1 denly went off, Master Jones rceeiving the full charge. A doctor was imruediatey telephoned for, and Dr. Wilson went out, but before ?i e reached Maxwelltown the unfortunate“lad had expired. Lance Jones,' who was just thirteen years of age, was a bright and promising hoy, a good student and an industrious worker, and a favourite with his schoolmates.
