FEILDING TECHNICAL SCHOOL.

The monthly meeting of Feilding Technical School Committee was held yesterday afternoon. Messrs Goodbehero ■ '(chairman), Uarty, Bramweil, Trewin, Pirani, and , Forsby, the new director, were present. An apology for absence was received from Mr A. B. Mayo. Mr Braik, the Chief Inspector, .wrote stating i't was impossible to grant -the .committee’s request to alter the dates for the commercial instruction classes. The Feilding A. & P. Association forwarded a-donation of £lO 10s to the funds and a vote of thanks was accorded the Association Mr Grant, the acting director, in the coarse of his report, stated • that the classes were being regularly attended, but with the exception of the book-keeping classes, the roll number was not increasing. An attempt was being made to commence an evening class in cookery,- but so far it had not been successful. It was proposed to begin tiou class tliis teim. This claiss would cover the work as laid down in the New Zealand University calendar. Mr Grant paid a warm compliment to Mr J. Ritchie, who had acted with him until the director was appointed.—Received. It was decided to write to Palmerston and ascertain. if it would be possible to get the services of their wool class instructor to conduct classes in Fe'ilding. - The Chairman was authorised to have the director’s room connected with the telephone. The resignation of Mr George Wheeler was accepted with regret. - The question of bolding a conference of representatives from all local bodies, etc., with?reference to c'he best means of imparting teclmi cal education was left to the chairman to arrange. A vote of thanks was accorded Mr J. Ritchie for bis past services as secretary. Authority was given to have a cycle stand erected at the school. The finance committee were authorised to collect subscriptions towards the school.
